About our client

MetallDigital logo

MetallDigital is an innovative company providing solutions for the pharmaceutical sector. It supports companies at every stage of the lifecycle of facilities — from concept and design, through implementation, to maintenance and modernization. The company was looking for a technology partner to create a dedicated Revit overlay to improve the flow of information between the design environment and the web platform.

Main problems encountered by our client

No portal integration with Revit

The MetallDigital team had an extensive product portal, but the designers did not have the ability to directly transfer BIM models between the website and the Revit software. The process was time consuming and prone to errors.

Limited project and bill of materials management

Designers did not have the ability to save designs or easily generate lists of materials (BOMs). This made it difficult to archive and reuse existing design solutions.

Difficult collaboration between specialists outside the BIM environment

The company wanted to involve in the design process also cost estimators and Facility Managers who do not use Revit. The lack of a common point of reference hampered the exchange of information.

Lack of automation when working with models

Designers had to manually rotate and move objects in the model, which slowed down work and increased the risk of errors on large projects.

As a respond to clients problems and challenges we implemented

Two-way Revit integration with a web portal

We have created a dedicated Revit plugin for seamless data exchange between the project environment and the client portal. Users can now download BIM models directly from the platform and upload design data the other way.

Automatic reading and grouping of room equipment

The implemented module analyzes RFA models inserted into the project, groups them by rooms and reads their parameters. The collected information is automatically transmitted to the server and accessible from the web application.

Import RFA models from the browser

Users can instantly insert BIM objects into a project by copying them directly from a web page or dragging the product visualization to a dedicated Revit overlay.

Automatic manipulation of models in the project

Our plugin offers special forms for defining offsets and rotations that allow you to adjust the position and orientation of multiple objects at the same time. The function significantly speeds up the work of designers.

Benefits of implementation

Reduce the time it takes to exchange data between the portal and the Revit environment.

Automation of design processes and reduction of human error.

Improve collaboration between BIM professionals and people outside the design environment.
